4-H Photography SPIN Club, June 18-23-3:30-5 pm-Lee County Fairgrounds, Amboy

Photography SPIN Club is for 4-H members and non 4-H Members, 8-18 years old. Cost will be $15 for 4-H members on $35 for first time 4-H members or SPIN club members. Goals for the workshop will be to work through your project manuals, understand what the fair judges are looking for, practice your photography skills, and challenge yourself to take new pictures.

This club will take place on Tuesdays May 16-Aug 1. The club will focus on teaching children about the wonderful world of gardening through hands-on investigation of growing their own vegetables & flowers and learning to use the harvest. We will also discover the “Good Guys/Bad Guys” in the garden and what makes a garden grow. The club is for youth 3-5 grades and the cost is $30 for non-4-H members and $10 for 4-H members. 4-H Shooting Sports Archery SPIN Club, Next Date June 21- 5-6pm Wed. - York Farm, Lanark

4-H archery workshops will be held June 7, 14, & 21- at the Mike & Jodi York farm located at 25269 E. Locust Rd., Lanark. A parent must accompany you; if your mom or dad cannot then you need to find another adult to be responsible for you. Dress for the weather. You need to arrive at least ½ hour before ending time if you are going to be late and want to shoot. Bring what equipment you have with you. There is no cost for 4-H’ers to attend. Cost for non 4-H’ers is $20. The Archery SPIN club is open to all youth 8-18 years old. Call the office at 815-244-9444 to register.

4-H Drill Team SPIN Club, Next Date June 22- 6:30pm-Carroll Co Fairgrounds 4-H Horse Arena, Milledgeville

The club will meet Thursdays May 25, June 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, July 13, 20. Practice will be canceled if there is lightning. All participants are required to wear a helmet while riding their horse. Rabbit SPIN Club, Next Date, June 26 July 10, 24, 31-5:30-6:30pm Wynia Home, 610 E Washington St. Mt. Carroll

Youth ages 8-18 are welcome to participate in a rabbit SPIN club. Monthly meetings will be held at the Wynia home in Mt. Carroll until July. Children will learn about housing, nutrition, vet care, grooming, meat rabbit production, using manure for garden fertilizer, diseases, and prevention, and growing your own rabbit food. Four Seasons Gardening, a 12-session program presented by University of Illinois Extension, includes a wide array of gardening and landscaping topics. Multi County 4-H Dog Show, July 8, 2017-9am-Granny Rose K-9 Enrichment Center, Dixon

Participants must be current 4-Her’s in their respective counties and is up to date on all paperwork and health requirements. 4-H’ers must follow instructions from their county and sign up for classes on 4-H online. Carroll County Extension Master Gardeners will offer a program on Tea Gardens at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 13 at the Thomson Library. We will cover tea gardens in two parts. First, we will look at how to design a garden as a great place to enjoy tea. Then we’ll look at various herbs used to make tea. There are no fees to attend but registration is appreciated by calling the library at 815-259-2480.
