The Sterling boys took on Mt. Zion in their first game of a double header at the Taylorville Holiday Tournament yesterday. The Golden Warriors had extended their win streak to three games when they beat Illinois Valley Central 56-36 on Wednesday. The Warriors were able to extend their win streak to four straight wins when they beat Mt. Zion 67-59. Sean Gingrich was the player of the game scoring 27 points and also had a career high five three-pointers.Micah Kendrick also provided 15 points to get the win.
Unfortunately, the Warriors couldn't extend their recent win streak to five when the boys lost to Taylorville 67-51. However, the bright spot for the Golden Warriors was Aiden Shore. Shore hit career highs in points (13) and rebounds (12). The Warriors will have another double header today with the first game being against Galesburg (11-2). If the Golden Warriors take down the Sliver Streaks they will find themselves in the championship game at 8:30 pm.
